BACKGROUND: Celebrities often face court-ordered community service sentences for minor violations. Community service may involve picking up litter, public appearances at schools, lectures, or some other type of public service for a set number of hours to satisfy a conviction.

Richmond Commonwealth’s Attorney Michael Herring has negotiated with a recent offender with star power to instead participate in a public service announcement (PSA) that can reach exponentially more people, and especially youth.  Herring will reveal the PSA at an upcoming news conference, along with School Superintendent Dr. Dana Bedden, who intends to utilize the PSA throughout the school system.
