Signs will be posted in neighborhoods at least 48 hours in advance. Please adhere to the signage to avoid vehicle towing and to have an indication of when to rake your leaves to the property line. Please click here to view the leaf collection schedule . Occasionally, during vacuum leaf collection season, you may see crews in your area ahead of your neighborhood’s collection schedule. That means they are just lightening up the amount of leaves. When it is your turn, they will post signage, then return during the scheduled vacuum dates. Individual service requests for collections must be called in through Customer Care a 3-1-1 (646-7000).  Such requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may result in a $75 special collection fee.

~ Towing and ticketing will be enforced for vehicles without authorized parking placard ~ A Special Election is scheduled for Tuesday, January 13. On-street parking restrictions will be in place near polling locations in order to accommodate chief election officers and those working the polls. The following restrictions will be in place during the election period:   Tuesday, January 13, 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Ten parking meters on 9th Street between Broad Street and Marshall Street and on the north side of Marshall Street between 9th and 10th streets will be designated for poll workers.   Wednesday, January 14, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. One meter on the west side of 9th Street between Broad Street and Marshall Street will be designated for a chief election officer.   All restricted meters will be marked accordingly. Unauthorized vehicles will be ticketed and/or towed while these restrictions are in place.

The start of a new year is a good time to dispose of items you no longer want, including your Christmas tree. On Saturday, January 10, the City’s Department of Public Works is sponsoring the fifth annual “Bring One for the Chipper” Christmas tree recycling day. The event also will include electronics recycling and document shredding. “Bring One for the Chipper 2015” will take place in the paved lot at 1710 Robin Hood Road (northeast corner of Robin Hood Road and North Boulevard), from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Residents can bring up to five boxes of paper for shredding. Small electronic items that will be accepted for recycling include, but are not limited to, printers, computer monitors, radios and microwaves. Televisions will be disposed at a cost of $10 each.
