La Oficina para el Desarrollo de Negocios de Minorías presentará talleres de desarrollo profesional para contratistas y subcontratistas para mejorar las oportunidades de contratación

La Oficina para el Desarrollo de Negocios de Minorías de la Ciudad de Richmond   (OMBD por sus iniciales en inglés) y otros colaboradores presentarán una serie de talleres de construcción para apoyar a los contratistas en mejorar sus oportunidades de contratación al desarrollar sus destrezas y conocimientos técnicos. La meta es dotar a los contratistas locales, especialmente a los contratistas que  pertenecen a minorías, con un desarrollo profesional que les permita aumentar el éxito en la obtención de contratos en Richmond. La serie consta de diez lecciones intensivas que se enfocarán en distintas áreas de la contratación. Los temas incluyen: gerencia de proyectos, expectativas de proyectos, comprensión de contratos, estimación exitosa, fianzas de garantía, obtención de préstamos de la Ciudad de Richmond, y mucho más. Office of Minority Business Development to host professional development workshops for contractors and subcontractors to improve procurement opportunities

The City of Richmond’s Office of Minority Business Development (OMBD) and other partners are offering a Construction Workshop Series to assist contractors in improving their procurement opportunities by developing their technical skills and knowledge.   The goal is to arm local contractors, especially minority contractors, with professional development in order to increase their procurement success in Richmond. The series consists of ten intensive lessons that will focus on different areas of contracting. Subject areas include project management, project expectations, understanding contracts, successful estimating, bonding, accessing funding with the City of Richmond and much more.   The program begins Wednesday, February 26, 2020 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Huguenot Community Center, 7945 Forest Hill Avenue. Free Assistance for Lead Based Paint Hazards

Do you have children who either live in or frequently visit your home? If so, it’s important for you to know Lead paint is dangerous, unhealthy, and can severely harm the brain and nervous system development of children under 6 years old. Lead paint is still found in many of the City’s older Northside Homes. The Richmond Lead-Based Paint Hazard Control Program is a partnership between the City of Richmond’s Department of Housing and Community Development and the non-profit project:HOMES that provides federal funds for free testing and repairs for homes with at-risk children or pregnant women. RVA311 Releases Two New Service Requests

In response to requests from our Citizens, RVA311 has partnered with leaders for our teams that investigate Right of Way   Violations   and Private Property Construction without a Permit concerns and we are excited to add two new service requests in February: Report Public Right of Way   Violation Report Private Property Construction without a Permit   Both requests are located in the   Zoning and Code Enforcement   category.   The requests will be publicly available via the Citizen Portal at RVA311.com, via the Mobile App and as always, Citizens can report their concerns by calling the 311 Call Center.    The   Report Public Right of Way   Violation  request allows citizens to report obstructions, encroachments or hazards (e.g. dumpsters, equipment, fencing, etc.) in public right of ways such as streets, alleys or sidewalks.   The request form collects details such as the location of the issue, whether vehicular or pedestrian traffic is impeded or blocked, and whet
