Work pushed back one week As work continues on improvements at the East Richmond Road Convenience Center (ERRCC) there has been an unexpected delay in re-opening. Business at the facility will resume on Tuesday, September 8 at 7 a.m. The ERRCC closed on Monday for construction to replace the existing trailer where employees conduct business. During this time, the transfer station at 3520 Hopkins Rd. can be used. Those opting to use that facility will be required to off-load items on their own. Materials such as trash, bulk and brush can be taken there. Household hazardous waste CANNOT be disposed at that location. Hours of operation at Hopkins Road are 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. It is closed on Sunday.  The facility is only for city residents. Proof of residency is required.

Outstanding tickets must be paid by deadline On Monday, August 31 at 5 p.m. the parking amnesty program for overdue citations will end and the city will begin booting vehicles with outstanding past due tickets.   The program was initiated as a result of the immediate impact COVID-19 had on those living and working in the city. Now that amnesty is ending those who received tickets on or after March 16 must pay the original ticketed amount by Monday in order to have any additional fines and penalties waived.   Those owing money for parking tickets and overdue penalties prior to March 16 had the amounts due frozen and were not accruing additional fines and penalties during the amnesty period.   Community Public Meetings City of Richmond, Virginia Preparation of Five Year Consolidated Plan PY 2021-2025 PY    The City of Richmond is creating a new five year Consolidated Plan. This plan identifies the City’s overall needs for affordable housing, community development, economic development, community facilities and services for persons with special needs. This plan lays out the strategic actions to be taken by the City to address the needs identified by our citizens, organizations, students, seniors, developers, business owners, faith based organizations, philanthropic partners, service providers, nonprofits, adjacent jurisdictions, and our legislative, and local leadership. HUD requires the City to have a planning document that outline the uses of federal funds that meet local needs. The Consolidated Plan serves as the City’s official plan to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the CDBG, HOME, ESG, and HOPWA entitlement programs. The City of Richmond

The program guidelines and application for the Business Recovery Grant Program are available here.  The City of Richmond has recommended that City Council allocate $500,000 to create the Business Recovery Grant Program. Under this new, one-time program, grants will be awarded to eligible local businesses, non-profit organizations, and commercial property owners to recover costs from damage during recent demonstrations within city limits.   “Though many protests have been peaceful, sporadic nights of severe property damage have hurt our small business community,” said Mayor Stoney. “These grants will help those establishments get back on their feet and send a message to the owners and employees of those businesses that they’re heard, they’re valued and we’re in this together.”   The grants will be a reimbursement of expenses paid to repair property destruction during the recent civil unrest.  This could include window repair, graffiti removal and more. The maximum grant award is $10,000

City of Richmond and Venture Richmond Awarded $25,000 Bloomberg Philanthropies Grant for Jackson Ward Intersection Enhancements and Public Art Venture Richmond and the City of Richmond Public Art Commission have been jointly awarded a $25,000 grant from   Bloomberg Philanthropies’ Asphalt Art Initiative , which supports cities using art and community engagement to improve street safety and revitalize public space. More than 200 cities applied. Richmond was one of only 16 grant-award recipients.
